SLAP Lesion/Biceps Tendinopathy
The biceps-labral complex is a significant pain generator in the shoulder. Traumatic or overuse injuries can cause a tear of the superior labrum – at the insertion of the biceps tendon. In addition, tendonitis of the biceps tendon is a common ailment in middle aged and older patients. There are many treatment options, both nonoperative as well as surgical.

MALE GENDER AND INCREASING AGE RISK FACTORS OR SLAP LESIONS
Large population study of active military personnel showed increasing rate of SLAP lesion diagnosis over time studied. Independent risk factors found to be significant include male gender and increasing age.
